Eelco Ottenhof
Eelco Ottenhof (1981) is an artist, composer, curator, and organizer based in Rotterdam. His practice operates at the intersection of experimental sound art, audiovisual installations, and spatial compositions. With a background in electronic music, he has developed a multidisciplinary approach in which sound is not treated solely as a musical medium, but as material: malleable, layered, and structurally decisive for space and experience.
As a self-taught artist, Ottenhof built his practice through long-term experimentation, practice, and self-study. His work does not emerge from an academic framework, but from continuous technical and conceptual development. Sound systems, feedback mechanisms, multi-speaker setups, and spatial configurations function both as instruments and as fields of research.
Together with Joris Strijbos, he forms the duo Rotor, focusing on audiovisual art and expanded cinema. Within this collaboration, installations and performances are developed in which image and sound function as spatial systems.
Eelco Ottenhof is also co-initiator and curator of the Klankvorm events and the Conflux festival, platforms through which experimental light and sound art are explored and presented in an international context.
